About Me
I was born in Australia, and have also lived in Spain, Chile, England, Costa Rica, Mexico and Canada. For the past five years I have called North Seattle home where I live with my family, our two cats and puppy. I love the ocean, vegetable gardening, and learning the ukulele.
On my path to becoming a therapist, I worked in human resources, network operations, retail, restaurants, yoga, and grant fundraising for small and large NGOs. While aspects of these jobs were fulfilling, I kept searching for something more. In my twenties, I met a friend who was a therapist, and I started reading their textbooks. They were the first textbooks I had ever enjoyed. Counselling and psychotherapy was not something easily accepted in my culture so it took a few more years to have the courage to do what I loved, but once I started, I have not looked back. Being a therapist gives me meaning and joy; I love what I do.
I trained as a psychotherapist and counsellor at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy in the United Kingdom, and when I relocated to Seattle I retrained as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor at Antioch University, for a total of nearly 10 years of training.
I value lifelong learning and seek out opportunities for education that challenge and expand my knowledge and skill set in therapeutic practice. I also regularly attend my own therapy to continue looking after my own healing journey, and supervision to learn from a more experienced therapist and to ensure that my work is ethical. I am a member of several consultation groups where I continue to learn from therapists with different experience or training.
